Herbal use through the ages
Herbs, one of the most common forms of vegetation on the planet and yet so many misconceptions about them. These very sometimes weed looking botanic's may hold the key to health for a large portion of the population, through knowledge gained and recorded from trial and error by early civilizations .
The drug industry and modern medicine would not be as advanced today without herbal
medicine, handed down throughout the ages by our ancestors who used nature to cure
ailments with herb based cures and methods, that developed in body and mind. For
thousands of years natural cures have helped cultures who understood the benefits of
various plants and herbs upon our species, to differentiate between ones that benefit
and ones that may not.
The fact that our ancestors used natural and herb based remedies have been proven by archaeologists
whom have unearthed evidence that they used plant-based treatments in many parts of
the earth. What is mysterious is that cultures on a worldwide scale, apparently with
no known communication with each other, all used herb and plant remedies in much
the same way, testing what worked and what didnt in the fascinating world of herbal
remedies and cures.
As time proved some assumptions correct, ancestors passed the teachings about natural and herb based
treatments down through family lineage. They also created records to help others
study and learn about the techniques used in taking the natural approach to healing.
It was through our ancestral roots that modern-day pharmaceutical companies derived
many of the synthetic drugs of today. They try to replicate the natural effects
herb treatments deliver to the human body, occasionally succeeding and often
failing. The widely used Aspirin, for example, was created as a replica of the
substance found in willow bark that provides a natural pain reliever.
Our ancestors began cultivating plants for their own use and included herb gardens
that provided immediate access to particular plants they found soothing for their
ailments, including aloe, peppermint, mustard, and more. Botanical treatments do not
provide the same side effects that synthetic drugs do; this is the reason why many
modern-day consumers are staying away from synthetic man-made medicines and returning
to the traditional roots of herb remedies and natural treatments.
As the world of trade, commerce and travel throughout the centuries expanded, various
cultures with influence exchanged ideas and information with others helping to spread
the wonders of natural treatments and cures.
Herbs were very important to our ancestors so much that they became a part of
religious rituals and were valued highly. Today, not only do consumers see the
significance. in promoting natural treatments, but doctors are gradually aligning with
this way of thinking as well, although there are attempts to suppress the spread of
such knowledge by vested interests in various countries. Various medical and large
"Pharma" interests align with various government agencies to try and debunk
information on natural (and cheap) cures and methods that have proven over the
passage of time by ancient cultures that they do work.
